2016-17 Studio Theme

We are off on a great adventure!

Jay's mother donated some old zoo books to the studio. They are a great read while you wait. Want to know an interesting fact about an animal? Ask this guy! He's read them all already!

Prize cards are tech-savvy this year. Use a smart phone QR code reader to reveal your prize!

As our zookeepers make their rounds on the zoo map, they will find special tasks hidden along the path. We'll have fun with rhythm projects, composition, note reading games, ear training, sight reading, learning how to play from lead sheets, and so much more!

The Piano Bench students are searching for buried treasure this year! The 2015-2016 studio  year was kicked off with a great group lesson filled with pirate games and fun.

The Treasure Map

Students each colored their own ship at the group lesson. These were laminated and placed around the map in groups to begin their journey to find buried treasure.  

Once a student sails to an island's "X", they received a card.
Each island's prize card was printed using a business 
card template. Students then head to the scratching station to

 How to motivate your child to practice is the age old
question for every parent of a budding
musician.

Coming to a music lesson once a week gives the teacher time to teach, but it isn't enough for a student to learn the new concepts taught. Learning happens at home. Encourage practice at home by creating fun family involvement in the learning process.

2014 Spring Recital

Love seeing the confident smiles of students after a successful performance, the culmination of weeks of learning and polishing their recital songs.

Love the smiles of the audience as they beam in the accomplishments of their musicians.

Christmas Recital at the Prescott Gateway Mall

Six teachers and over 70 students participated in our 2nd annual Christmas Recital at the Mall.
It was a day of great music and great fun!  Sure proud of all that prepared and participated!

Since we're talking about the organ for October...

Here's a shout out for Bentley for his first time at the organ!

Boys and Lefties

Half of my studio are boys this year!  

It is wonderful!

And a 1/3 of the studio are lefties.

Both are mighty unusual in my 24 years of teaching.  

And both keep me on my toes.  :-)

Festival

The Quad Cities Music Teachers sponsored their 2nd annual Festival February 2013.  

It was a great success!  This second year saw double the student participants! 

So proud of all my students!

The Studio
